A Tribute to Grandma McDaniel

August has been a month full of many changes for the Atwood Family. New jobs, little ones going to school and one that has affected us the most has been losing Grandma McDaniel. Grandma McDaniel was Brian's mother's mom. She lived a long, happy, productive life and this month her body just gave out. She went to home to be with Jesus and is now pain free. Our loss is Heaven's gain. We are going to miss her, no doubt!

Brian has been so blessed to have grandparents still living to see him marry and have children. Lilly was blessed too, because she was loved, dearly, by her great grandma!

The above picture is of Brian and Grandma the day or two before our wedding. She was so much fun to have around that weekend. She sat right there, perched on that couch and watched all the happenings. The funniest story that Laura, my sister in law, still tells today was when Laura finished with a flower arrangement that she had been working on. She had Gertie (Grandma) get up off the couch, pretend to be coming inside the house for the first time and Laura asked her what her reacion was of the arrangement. Her repsonse, "Those are so pretty, that I want you to do the flowers for my wedding!" It was great and we loved Grandma's wit! She was always making us laugh!

Pretty Grandma and pretty Lilly, meeting for the first time!

Loving each other....Lilly was 4months old!

Grandma making Lilly laugh!

Grandma and Lilly Whit hanging out on the deck enjoying the evening. This is one of my favorite pictures of them both!

Grandma and Riley

This picture was taken of Lilly and Grandma at Christmas. This was our last time being with Grandma. We had some wonderful quality time with her and she did with Lilly. It was very special. Lilly did great and I think made Grandma feel VERY special! Little ones have that effect on us all!

Grandma reading Lilly a book....and Lilly is enjoying it!

Antother day during our Christmas visit to see Grandma. Lilly climbed in her chair to see her....of course she wanted her to read her a book!

Precious memories!

How thankful I am that I had the opportunity to know such a wonderful soul and more importantly for Lilly to know her.

In the days ahead I am claiming James 4:8 for the family.

"Draw near to HIM and HE will draw near to you."

]Jesus is the great comforter!
